The man on Texas death row for the 1984 rape and stabbing murder of a Southern Methodist University co-ed has died in prison of a heart attack.
In 2010, Donald Bess was convicted in the cold case murder of 20-year-old Angela Samota who was brutally stabbed in her Dallas condo after she allowed Bess in. He claimed he needed to use the bathroom.
By 2010, Bess was already in his 60s and had a bad heart.
In fact, his trial was delayed because he had a heart attack.
He's been on Death Row since he was convicted but no execution date was ever set.
The Dallas County District Attorney's office says it was told Bess died from a heart attack.
