Nearly a decade after a Carrollton murder, the man accused in the killing has agreed to plead guilty in return for a 30-year prison stretch.
In 2013, the victim Todd Fenton was found shot in the back at the Carrollton-Farmers Branch school district bus barn where he worked.
Using surveillance video, police quickly identified their suspect as a man named Gerardo Alvarez but he managed to slip out of the country.
However two years ago he was found in Mexico and was extradited back to Dallas County where he was due to go on trial next month.
But on Thursday he agreed to the plea deal. However, Carrollton police say just last month, Fenton's wife died so she did not live to see justice done.
