Man resecued from pond drain in North Oak Cliff park

A man's in the hospital after being rescued from a North Oak Cliff drain pipe overnight.

Last night around 11 p.m. a Dallas Fire-Rescue high-water rescue team was called out to Lake Cliff Park on Colorado Boulevard near Zang.

There's a pond in the park with a large overflow pipe several yards off-shore surrounded by an iron fence. Somehow, a man fell down the pipe and was stuck more than 40 feet down.

Using inflatable rafts, the firefighters rowed out and began to work their way down the pipe, taking a back board with them.

After about two hours, they brought the man up and rushed him to the hospital. His condition has not been released.
