A man accused of killing another man during a robbery outside a Frisco Walmart has been sentenced to spend the rest of his life behind bars.

Two men were shot outside the Walmart along Preston Road during a robbery in November of 2023.

62-year-old Dung Doan was killed and 22-year-old Zachary Lowe survived. Lowe is an Army veteran and Doan had recently immigrated to the United States legally.

Detectives say 44-year-old Jhirrell Harris traveled from Monroe Louisiana to Frisco with an accomplice and carried out the robbery. The two then fled back to Louisiana the following day.

"Harris was a menace whose cold-blooded violence stole the life of an innocent man and left a young Army veteran wounded outside a neighborhood Walmart. Collin County and beyond are safer tonight with him locked up for good," said Collin County District Attorney Greg Willis in a statement.

Harris was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
