A 37-year-old man accused of breaking into a vape shop is in the hospital after he was shot in the leg by a Fort Worth officer early Sunday morning, police say.
The incident started in the 6400 block of McCart Avenue in South Fort Worth around 4 a.m. Sunday, police said. When officers arrived, the man, had already fled on foot into an open field behind the shopping center.
Police said he was armed with a crowbar, broke the glass, and stole several items.
Officers ultimately found the man in the backyard of a home in the 3200 block of Fargo Court, police said. After they confronted the man, one officer fired a shot that hit the suspect in the leg.
Police said officers on the scene immediately provided life-saving care and the suspect remains in the hospital in stable condition.
There are no other outstanding suspects, police said.
Police said no officers or anyone inside the business were injured.
