A man is recovering from a gunshot wound after being injured during an attempted car-jacking in Fort Worth overnight.

Just before midnight Fort Worth Police say the man called 9-1-1 to say he'd been shot outside a home on Stratford Park Drive, a cul de sac about a mile from Texas Wesleyan University.

Police arrived to find the man bleeding from a bullet wound in the shoulder. He told officers he was in his vehicle outside the home when three men came up. One of them had a pistol and they announced they were there to steal the victim's vehicle.

Officials say they don't know why but the gunman then shot the man and then all three suspects ran for it without stealing the vehicle.

The man's wound is not believed to be life-threatening. The gunman and the two other suspects remain on the run.
