IRVING (1080 KRLD)- Irving police are still trying to figure out why a man would killed himself in front of a north Texas lawmakers home.
55 year old Chris Dillard went to the home of congresswoman Beth Van Duyne Wednesday afternoon, pulled out a gun and shot himself, according to police.
Robert Reeves with Irving police says the congresswoman was home at the time, heard a gunshot, saw Dillard outside on the ground and called officers.
"There is no reports and no information shows any type of mental health issues. As to the reasoning and the cause, its still unknown," Reeves says.
Spokeswoman Andrea Coker read a statement from Van Duyne, who expressed her shock.
"He had been to my home numerous times, for holiday parties, fantasy football parties, and get togethers with friends. The last time I heard from him was early January in texts, to share pictures of his family."
Dillard was very active in the Republican party in north Texas and his linked in page suggests he worked for the congresswoman before.
