The man suspected of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 7-year-old girl last month is now finally behind bars in the Dallas County jail.
Jail records show 41-year-old Leonard Neal is out of the hospital and jailed on a $1.1 million bond. Last month, police say a 7-year old girl and her nine year old brother climbed into Neal's SUV and were taken from an area not far from Zang and Illinois. The boy was dropped off at a strip mall a short while later, but the girl was missing for hours before she was found.
Police zeroed in on Neal who was found Friday near Polk and Camp Wisdom. Police say as a fugitive task force approached, Neal tried to take his own life by slashing his throat which put him in the hospital.
He is now out of the hospital and is being held on charges of kidnapping, aggravated sexual assault and aggravated kidnapping with bodily injury.
