A man's body has been recovered from White Rock Creek where he was swept away Saturday night after a day of torrential rain.

The creek was running very high and fast over Lawther Road when officials say the man tried to cross the flooded area and lost his footing in the rushing water.

A woman who saw what happened called 9-1-1, bringing Dallas Fire-Rescue to the scene with boats and drones. Crews looked for several hours with no luck.

Resuming Sunday morning, after water levels had dropped to a safe level, they found the victim's body about 100 yards downstream.
