A man who helped a former FBI agent scam a woman out of more than $700,000 is also going to prison.

The coconspirator in retired FBI agent William Stone's scheme to con a local mother out of more than $700,000 by convincing her she was on "secret federal probation" was sentenced Thursday to nearly six years in federal prison, announced U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas Leigha Simonton.

Stone is already serving a 7-year sentence. Prosecutors say he got help in the scheme from 63-year-old Joseph Eventino DeLeon, who was convicted of conspiracy to commit wire fraud.

Prosecutors say DeLeon got nearly $50,000 as part of the fraud.
