A man who drove nearly 40 miles after a hit-and-run crash with his victim’s body in the front seat has been sentenced to 15 years in prison, the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office said.

Nestor Lujan Flores, 31, pleaded guilty to intoxicated manslaughter and collision involving death. A judge sentenced him to 15 years on both charges. He faced a maximum possible sentence of 20 years.

Investigators said Flores struck 45-year-old Terry Ivory in a crosswalk on the westbound Interstate 30 service road near Cockrell Hill Road in West Dallas in December 2023. Authorities said Flores was intoxicated at the time and did not stop after the crash, even though the impact sent Ivory through the windshield.

Police later found Flores’ vehicle parked at a Jack in the Box in White Settlement, about 40 miles from the crash scene. Ivory’s body was discovered in the front passenger seat, authorities said.

Court records show Flores’ blood alcohol level the following morning was below the legal limit. Records also indicate Flores had a prior DWI conviction in 2020.
