The man who randomly shot the mother of a Fort Worth city councilman has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison.

Court records show 35-year-old Jonathan Howard pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm.

In February, he was randomly shooting his gun in a Fort Worth neighborhood, and ended up shooting 82-year-old Graciela Flores. Flores' son is Fort Worth City Councilman Carlos Flores, who acknowledges his mother was not targeted.

Graciela Flores has made almost a full recovery.

Howard had previously been convicted of forgery and drug charges. Howard still faces state charges in connection with the shooting.
