The City of Mansfield has posted a notice on its Facebook page to address concerns from some residents about their tap water.

Some residents have been calling City Hall about their water appearing cloudy. Mansfield officials there's nothing wrong with the water, and the cloudy appearance is based on the amount of air dissolved in the water.

Both pressure and temperature affect the solubility of air in water. Cold water coming from the reservoir warms slightly as it flows through the pipes to its destination, and the air then comes out of solution and becomes visible in the water. The same factors can also create bubbles in tap water as the air escapes as the pressure decreases when the water leaves the faucet.

In either case, Mansfield officials say there's nothing to be concerned about. Customers can let the water sit in an open container for any bubbles or cloudiness disappears.

If people do need to report an issue with their tap water, the number for the Water Treatment Plant is 817-728-3674.
