The Dallas ISD is welcoming thousands of students back to school today and Superintendent Michael Hinojosa says they have to wear masks. If they don’t, they’ll be isolated.

Other school districts in Dallas county that are also returning to campus plan to obey the Texas Supreme Court ruling and will not mandate masks, but most are strongly encouraging students and staff to wear them.

Meanwhile in several districts including DeSoto, Duncanville and Highland Park, they will hold emergency school board meetings today to discuss the mask mandates.

In Fort Worth, students also return to schools today, in person, and the district will hold a special board meeting tomorrow night to discuss masks.

Last week FWISD Superintendent Kent Scribner announced a district wide mask mandate for all students and staff, but last Friday a court ruling halted that order saying Scribner lacked the authority to issue such an order.
