The mayor of a small East Texas town has been arrested, for what he put in citizen's water bills
Al Campbell, mayor of Domino is not a fan of President Trump. He's accused of inserting an anti Trump letter in the tiny town's water bills in August and he was arrested last month after citizens brought the letter to light. Cass County Criminal District Attorney Courtney Shelton says "when you are using city funds to push your own political agenda and try to persuade people to vote a particular way, that is against the law."
She says the alleged violation is unlawful use of funds for political advertising and abuse of official capacity.
She says he didn't steal from the city, but used stamps and envelopes and included the letter with the water bill.
She says the letter said Trump "was not the devil himself, but was the spawn of Satan." She said the letter said president Trump had numerous affairs and was immoral. The letter also encouarged citizens to vote.
The Texas Rangers investigated the case.
