McKinney firefighters are moving to another assignment in the Hurricane Ida zone along the gulf coast.
Shortly after Ida struck the Gulf Coast on August 29th, hundreds of firefighters and other first responders from North Texas moved to coastal Louisiana to assist in search-and-rescue and recovery efforts.
McKinney firefighters were sent to Bayou Dularge, about 75 miles southwest of New Orleans. There they spent long days in the heat handing out water, ice and other necessities in an area where electricity had been cut by the storm.
They are now relocating to the larger city of Houma.
A statement from the McKinney Fire Department says they are "leaving Dularge and want to thank everyone there for their hospitality and friendship."
