The family of a McKinney teen is devastated and asking that the suspect of the hit and run that killed their son turn themselves in.

14-year-old Jamir Dabney was hit Saturday evening while riding his bike home from playing basketball near Lake Forest Drive and Highlands Drive. The driver, in a dark-colored sedan, fled the scene.

A witness attempted CPR, but Jamir later died at the hospital. Last night loved ones and community members gathered for a vigil to honor his memory. A fundraiser online has already raised nearly $40,000 for Jamir Dabney’s family to help with funeral arrangements.

McKinney Police are asking anyone with information to call 972-547-3480 or email crimetipline@mckinneytexas.org.
