Drivers headed out for Memorial Day weekend will be dealing with four-year-high gasoline prices.




The Texas statewide average is $4.09 for a gallon of regular unleaded.

Daniel Armbruster with AAA says their travel forecast for people driving 50 miles or more this weekend is slightly down but they still expect records when it comes to all forms of travel.

"You do see a slight overall increase in the total travel volume because you see that increase in people flying," Armbruster said. "So, slightly higher than last year."

AAA expects prices at the pump to remain high as the summer travel season gets underway.

The main reason involves the prolonged issues surrounding the Strait of Hormuz.

A record-breaking 45-million Americans are projected to travel.

3.7 million Texans are predicted to travel as well.
