MESQUITE (1080 KRLD)- The Mesquite Fire Department says one person died in a weekend house fire after they went back inside the house trying to save their pets.
It happened overnight Saturday at a home on Crestridge Drive. The fire department says smoke alarms did go off, and the four people inside made it out safely, however, when one man went back inside the house was already heavily damaged and he didn't survive.
The fire department does not have specific details on the pets inside. Investigators say the fire was an accident, but didn't specify what started it.
