Officials at Horn High School in the Mesquite school district say they have already found a gun on campus, and the school year is just one day old.
Reports say the unidentified high school student allegedly brought the gun to school, but school officials found it. They say it was quickly found because of a new policy requiring students to have clear backpacks.
Our media partners at NBC 5 are reporting the student has been disciplined.
Mesquite ISD officials have not said if there were any specific threats against the school or students.
