A Mesquite middle school is closed today because of Tuesday's transformer fire that forced the evacuation of Vanston Middle School in the mid-afternoon.
Once officials deemed it was safe, everyone was allowed back in until the end of the school day about 90 minutes later. However, the power to the school is still out so there will be no classes held Wednesday.
Mesquite administrators stress there's no damage to the school but extensive rewiring will have to be completed to restore the electricity.
