Counselors are on campus this morning at McCarroll Middle School in Decatur ISD after a student died in an accident over the Thanksgiving weekend.
The district, located about 30 minutes northwest of Fort Worth, notified families of the loss in a letter but did not release details about what happened.
School officials said support services will be available for students and staff throughout the week as the campus community processes the news. The student’s name and the circumstances of the accident have not been publicly disclosed.
Decatur ISD has not announced any changes to the school schedule, but administrators encouraged families to reach out if their children need additional assistance during the grieving period. The district says it will share updates as more information becomes available.
