A five-year-old child somehow escaped unharmed in the back seat when a driver was shot and killed in DeSoto over the weekend.
A woman in the passenger seat was also shot but her wounds are not believed to be life-threatening.
Saturday night, a Midlothian man named Randall Thornhill was shot several times and killed in a car outside a gated DeSoto home. His companion was taken to the hospital.
Despite all the gunfire, the child in the back seat was not hit. The car was stopped waiting for the gate to open when the gunman opened fire.
Police say a man in a dark green hoodie was seen running from scene.
