The Midlothian school district has decided to cancel classes Friday because it doesn't have enough substitute teachers to cover classrooms.

Many students will be traveling across the state for both art and athletics events that day.
The district also says it's also making the decision because of the strain the travel will put on the transportation department. Basically there won't be enough school buses available to handle regular pickups and drop offs.
The district says students will not have to make up the day because they have enough minutes built into the calendar.
