We're not that far away from the State Fair of Texas. It starts September 27 and in preparation for that, fair officials announced the ten finalists in the annual Big Tex Choice Awards.
These are the new creations that'll be available at the Fair this year. Below are the 10 finalists: five sweet and five savory, Mike Rogers breaks them down for you.

Hot Chicken Pancake Poppers
Texas Fried Burnt End Bombs ("like deep-fried brisket balls," says Mike)
SWEET
Nutty Bar-laska
Cotton Candy Bacon on a Stick
Strawberry Pop-Tart Beigneffles
Texas Sugar Rush Pickles
Tropical Tw-Step Punch ("like a fruit punch with some Tajin to spice it up," says Mike)
Mike had a chance to speak with Justin Martinez of Arlington, who's responsible for two of these creations: the Dominican Fritura Dogs and the Strawberry Pop-Tart Beigneffles.
He also spoke to the creator of the Burnt End Bombs and Issac Rousso, the creator of the Cotton Candy Bacon on a Stick.
The winners will be announce on August 22 for the categories of 'Best Taste,' 'Savory,' 'Sweet,' and 'Most Creative.'
