The next chapter of Major League Rugby's Dallas Jackals is underway and will be led by Argentinian Santiago "Santi" Sodini, who has been announced as their next general manager.
Sodini takes control of a Jackals side fresh off of a disappointing and thoroughly challenging 0-16 debut season, following which the team parted ways with general manager Elaine Vassie.
Multiple long-term injuries - some of which occurred during a walkway collapse - and visa issues blighted the franchise's rookie year - a year in which they were forced to work without a head coach.
Now under Sodini's control, the Jackals are said to have already begun their head coaching search while also assessing their current coaching staff. The team also stated that they anticipate "more personnel announcements related to the rugby leadership soon."
A press release from the Jackals had the following to say of the former professional rugby player and coach in Australia, England, and Italy.
"He has had significant success in the MLR, and his visionary approach to data analytics, player health and development, and injury management are a tremendous resource for the team!"
Sodini himself said that "it’s a great honor for me to be part of the Dallas Jackals."
"I would like to express my gratitude to the organization for the opportunity and I am looking forward to working to create a winning team on and off the field."
Also experienced at the top level in soccer, and baseball, Sodini brings with him experience in MLR after serving as the Director of Operations for Rugby ATL in 2021 - a season in which they finished as runners-up
