More than 90 People found in Houston house

HOUSTON (1080 KRLD)- Police in Houston last night were made aware of a kidnapping call. They worked through the night to learn where the victim was held.

This morning police obtained a search warrant for a home in Southwest Houston and found 91 people inside, making this a human smuggling investigation.

Houston police department Daryn Edwards says they are concerned there may be some positive Covid-19 cases and rapid testing is underway.

He says once they figure out how many positive cases they have, those people will quarantine.  "We are in a pandemic and we do have some people in the house who are symptomatic. We've already had some people in the house tell us they are not able to smell and not able to taste. We have some people with fever."

They are trying to figure out who the victims and who the smugglers are.  "Somebody would be involved in something like this, as soon as they realized we're here they're going to try to become a part of them, right?"

There were no children in the home. He says there were five women and the rest were men. "It was a big suprise when we got in the house and saw what we saw," said Edwards.

He says the home is a two story house and people people were on both floors, huddled together.  Police have brought them food and water as those in the home said they had not eaten in awhile.
