Mosquito samples in Cockrell Hill test positive for West Nile virus - county plans targeted spraying

Officials with Dallas County Health and Human Services confirmed that mosquito traps from the 75211 ZIP code in Cockrell Hill have tested positive for West Nile virus.

In response, abatement teams will conduct targeted spraying in the area to reduce mosquito populations and protect residents .

Health officials are reminding everyone to follow the “4Ds”: use DEET-based repellents, wear long and light-colored clothing, drain standing water, and avoid being outside during dawn and dusk when mosquitoes are most active.
