Another North Texas city is moving some employees to a 4 day work week.

Starting next week most city workers in Farmers Branch will be working a 4 day week. They will be working longer hours in order to get the extra day off.

While the new policy applies to most of the city 400 plus employees, it does not include police officers and firefighters because of the around the clock demands from those departments.

And City Hall will remain open Monday thru Friday to accommodate residents.

The city manager says Farmers Branch had to make the move to keep talented employees and attract new hires. The city tested the 4 day work week concept in a couple of departments back in March.

Two other North Texas cities already offer 4 day weeks. Both Keller and Rowlett made the move last year.
