Early findings from the National Weather Service now show at least six confirmed tornadoes from Friday night’s storms, with one fatality in Morris County.

And also in Morris County, it could take most of the week to clear all the downed trees and debris in Hughes Springs.

On Saturday firefighters gathered at Hughes Springs volunteer fire department to salvage what records and equipment they could from their wrecked building.

There was a firefighter at the back part of the fire department building when the tornado hit, according to reports.

Randy Jones was preparing chainsaws and emergency equipment expecting to help in damaged areas when the tornado struck the fire house. Jones was able get underneath a vehicle and then a workbench toppled over, possibly shielding him from flying debris.
