Dallas (1080 KRLD) - There's a new survey of the best barbecue cities in the country. And out of 75 cities, Texas didn't have a single one anywhere in the top 10.
New Orleans finished first, followed by Oklahoma City. Charlotte, Virginia Beach, and Wichita tied for 3rd.
The best that Texas could do is number 12, El Paso. Then Austin in 18th place, Dallas at number 38. Fort Worth tied with Corpus at number 52.
Austin has the third highest number of high rated restaurants.
Plano ranked as one of the three worst cities for barbecue because Trip Advisor says you're more likely to step into just an average place. Houston and San Antonio have the highest number of low-rated barbecue restaurants. Niwa Japanese Barbecue in Dallas finished as the 3rd best restaurant out of more than 2000 restaurants that Trip Advisor's reviews reviewed.
