The Dallas City Council has sworn in new members.

According to Mayor Eric Johnson, they will stay busy as the city is getting ready for world-wide attention.

"We've positioned our city to take the international stage," Johnson said during a swearing-in ceremony referencing next summer's 2026 FIFA World Cup. "We are preparing to host more games of the World Cup than any other city.

The North Texas matches will actually be played several miles west on I-30 in Arlington.

Dallas will have the International Broadcast Center and a fan festival will be set up at Fair Park.

"We cannot afford to get caught up in back-room shenanigans," Johnson said. "The people of our city spoke in recent weeks when they elected you."

Dallas has sworn in four new council members with ten returning.
