Denton has a new police chief, announced last night by City Manager Sara Hensley who says Doug Shoemaker will be sworn in on October 3rd.
Shoemaker spent most of his law enforcement career in Missouri but for the past four years he has been Police Chief in Grand Junction, Colorado.
The search for a new chief was initiated when Police Chief Frank Dixon was promoted to become the Assistant City Manager and Director of Public Safety.
