The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza has opened a new exhibition that explores Dallas' darkest weekend through the eyes of four journalists.
'On Assignment' is an exhibition now open on the seventh floor of the former Texas School Book Depository above the museum's main exhibits.
The museum's Head of Curatorial Stephen Fagin says the new project looks at the events in different manner.
"There is a lot of information about the president's life, death, and legacy all communicated through images and artifacts on the sixth floor," Fagin said. "But, up here, we wanted to take a step back and really put our visitors in the shoes of these individuals who lived that experience."
The four journalists who are featured worked at the former Dallas Times Herald.
"They were professionals on assignment doing their job, but they were also human beings who were literally standing inside this tragedy that was playing out all around them in real time," Fagin said. "That tension is really at the heart of what we were trying to achieve with this."
Among the four journalists is reporter Jim Lehrer who went on to a storied career with PBS.
