Alliance Airport could soon be going by a new name.

The Fort Worth City Council will consider a resolution at its June 14th meeting to rename Alliance Airport to Perot Field Fort Worth Alliance Airport.

It would be in recognition of Ross Perot Sr.'s contributions to the region, including the creation of what was the world's first industrial airport.

The airport sits on what was ranchland that Perot and his son, Ross Perot Jr., accumulated in the mid-1980s.

If the council approves the resolution at its meeting next Tuesday, the proposed name change would go to the FAA, which has a separate process of reviewing and approving airport name changes.

That process normally takes between 30 and 90 days.
