We are learning more about the proposed arena in Plano set to be the new home of the Dallas Stars.
Much like the existing American Airlines Center, the new home for the Stars will be used for other events too, not just hockey.
That is the goal of Mayor John Muns who says for years Plano high schools have not held their graduations within the City limits.
"It's really a big deal to the community that's been here a long time," Mayor Muns said. "We've been all over North Texas doing graduations."
That's just one idea. Also, concerts appropriate to the venue's size. He says some would be at capacity but maybe not all of them.
"You have the big stadium groups and performers, and then you have these that would rather be in an arena like this size," Muns said.
This week the City voted to put together a tax package to go before the voters to help pay for the new arena and entertainment district.
The Dallas Stars propose a new arena and entertainment district at The Shops at Willow Bend to be opened in 2031.
