A new YMCA will soon become reality in the City of Midlothian.
The head of the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas says it's the first new community with a YMCA-managed building in over 25 years.
This comes five years after residents approved a $19-million bond package for a new recreation center.
Now, that new rec center will be managed by the YMCA.
"Together, our goal is to ensure the next generation can be a part of an even healthier, stronger, and more connected Midlothian community," said President and CEO of the YMCA Metropolitan Dallas Curt Hazelbaker.
The City will own the building and the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas will operate it.
It will be a while before it opens as the project is just now moving into the design phase.
