At least 14 area high schools in Fort Worth have moved their graduation ceremonies to Dickies Arena, and they start tonight. And a local non-profit has stepped up and will be paying for parking.

Parking at Dickies Arena costs $20 per car. Some parents posted online, writing 85 percent of families in the Fort Worth ISD are economically disadvantaged and have household budgets already stretched thin.

Another post said requiring kids and elderly family members to wait in line in hot weather is neither equitable nor safe.

14 schools will hold graduation ceremonies Tuesday through Saturday.

After the cost of parking was announced, the non-profit Rainwater Foundation said it would cover the cost of parking for those families attending the ceremonies.

Rainwater Foundation President Jeremy Smith says he hopes that'll remove a barrier families might have faced celebrating the perseverance and achievements of graduating seniors.
