Nonprofits looking to benefit from North Texas Giving Day are opening up about the help they receive.

The Dallas Zoo is among several organizations with fundraising goals Thursday and the Zoo’s Violet Correa says assistance comes in a variety of ways.

“It’s anyone you can imagine, even a dollar helps further our mission to engage people,” Correa said. “You can support through membership, giving dollars, we have programs like Adopt an Animal.”

Each organization has their own goal of how much they look to bring in. The Zoo is hoping for at least 75-thousand dollars. Organizers are hoping to match last year’s 70-million dollar effort overall.

Denise McGovern is Vice Chair of the Friends of the Dallas Public Library Board and she says what they do is made possible by the tremendous support from neighbors.

“North Texas Giving Day has the wonderful way of not only raising funds but also raising friends,” McGovern said. “Being able to get more people knowing about a lot of different nonprofits and the good that’s done in the city.”
