The North Richland Hills Police Department shared sad news on Tuesday afternoon that a beloved police dog has passed away.

Breta was North Richland Hills' K-9 that joined the department in 2012 and helped out police over a thousand times during her career. During her last patrol shift, she helped the Arlington police department with an investigation that led to a $167,000 seizure.

She retired in 2021 after serving for nine years and spent her retirement with her longtime handler Officer Tom Bugler and his wife. Police said that private arrangements were held this morning to honor Breta. She was 13.
