A North Texas couple living in Southern California lost their home after they were forced to evacuate due to the Eaton fire.

Lauren and Christopher Fordinal, originally from Plano and Midlothian, have called Altadena home for several years, raising their two young daughters in the neighborhood. As the fire neared last week, the family knew their time at home was limited.

Lauren Fordinal told KRLD's media partner NBC DFW that they had a few days' worth of things packed in bags that were already in the car.

The Fordinals were briefly allowed back into their neighborhood but returned to a friend's house, where are they staying during the blaze. The family expressed gratitude for their insurance coverage, especially as many Californians have recently been dropped by their providers.
