When the severe winter weather hit North Texas a few weeks ago, 7-year-old Birdie Martin was staying with her Aunt Lindsay while her parents were traveling.

So before the pair could safely leave their home, they decided to start baking, creating a delicious treat "Birdie's Bark." They then got word that Birdie's nanny's home flooded due to the storms, and figured their sweet treats could help.

Birdie and Aunt Lindsay decided to hold an impromptu bake sale to help cover the deductible for the repairs on the house, which was $4,500. The pair ended up raising enough money within 48 hours.

But the sales kept coming in. According to NBC DFW, Birdie's Bark has thus far raised over $8,000!
