Dallas Animal Services is warning people in North Texas it is now coyote mating season.
They're going to be out and about looking for love and protecting their families, so you need to be on alert. Some coyotes become more willing to venture into yards and neighborhoods.
Dallas Animal Services encourages dog owners to take the following steps to reduce interactions with coyotes:
- Always keep dogs on a leash
- Supervise pets in the yard
- Avoid walking dogs along creek lines or through empty fields
- Don't let your dogs run loose outdoors
If you see a coyote, scare it away by yelling, waving your arms, and throwing objects near, not at it.
