A Plano dentist was arrested Monday for allegedly performing surgery while intoxicated at a pediatric dental office in Sherman, police said.

Kelly Buck, 36, was taken into custody at Pediatric Dentistry of Sherman on Loy Lake Road after officers responded to a report of an intoxicated dentist around noon, according to Sherman police Lt. Sam Boyle.

“The caller alleged that there was a dentist practicing and showing signs of intoxication,” Boyle said.

Officers found Buck exhibiting signs of intoxication and she failed a field sobriety test, Boyle said. Buck was arrested on a charge of performing surgery while intoxicated, a state jail felony.

Buck has been a licensed dentist in Texas since 2016 and has no prior disciplinary actions on her record. She was booked into the Grayson County Jail and released Tuesday after posting $10,000 bond.

Police did not specify whether Buck appeared to be intoxicated by alcohol or drugs. If convicted, she faces up to two years in prison.
