A strike team of North Texas firefighting professionals has been deployed to the Texas panhandle, ready to help protect communities from wildfires.

"These farmers and these ranches rely on the grasses that they have to feed their livestock," says Lt. Jason Moloney with Southlake Fire. "The more that's ate up with these wildland fires is less they have to feed their animals. Less crops they have to harvest. So, for us to come out here and help them is a privilege."

Lt. Moloney is stationed with other crews at a staging point near Childress. He says the "fire weather" is expected to blow in tomorrow.

The team has been deployed as part of the Texas Intrastate Fire Mutual Aid System. It includes firefighters from Parker County, Roanoke, Stephenville and Southlake, as well as Alice and Austin.
