North Texas Giving Day this year broke records by raising over $74.2 million.
That number was at the cutoff of midnight Thursday night after over 94,000 people reached into their pockets to give to 3,500 nonprofits throughout the region.
The Communities Foundation of Texas says the need is great this year as many nonprofits have had to deal with unexpected funding changes.
“North Texans once again showed the extraordinary power of collective generosity,” President and CEO of Communities Foundation of Texas Wayne White said. “Thanks to individuals, families, and businesses giving back in record-breaking ways, North Texas Giving Day is helping to meet that need.”
Organizers were hoping for at least $70-million and they easily surpassed that goal.
