Children's Health and Cook Children's are the latest health systems that will require its employees to get vaccinated against COVID-19.
Children's Health will require all employees to be fully vaccinated by Oct. 1. The health group said, to date, more than 80% of its team members are fully vaccinated.
Meanwhile, Cook Children's Health Care System said all of its employees will need to be vaccinated by noon on Sept. 27.
According to the medical system, there are currently 24 children being treated for COVID-19, and the rate of positive cases seen across the health care system over the past week is now 11.3%. On June 2, that rate was 1%.
Meanwhile, the Texas Department of State Health Services, says you need to get both shots to adequately fight against the quickly spreading Delta variant.
Since last week, new cases in Texas are up 92%, hospitalizations are up 49%, and fatalities up 15%.
75% of new cases appear to be the Delta variant.
State health officials reported 15,558 new confirmed cases across the state Wednesday, the highest number since Feb. 2, when coronavirus vaccines were not yet widely available.
More than 7,600 coronavirus patients were reported in Texas hospitals Wednesday, a number not seen since mid-February.
People who are fully vaccinated against the virus are well protected, health experts say. Fully vaccinated individuals who contract COVID-19 are likely to experience a shorter, milder illness.
