Kids are having an incredibly hard time right now and Cook Children's Hospital is urging the public to take their mental health seriously. They say the amount of suicidal patients they have seen this year is at a record breaking high. The hospital has recently launched a new awareness campaign called "J.O.Y" with the hope they can help parents recognize the signs of anxiety or depression in their teens early enough to combat it.
On Wednesdays' Ask The Expert, Dr. Kristen Pyrc, a North Texas Psychiatrist, joined KRLD's Kristin Diaz and David Rancken to talk about the significance of the campaign which stands for "Just Breathe, Open Up, You Matter". She says they want kids to know there is hope and there are ways to handle stress.
