North Texas law enforcement leaders warning about COVID testing scams

As demand continues for COVID tests, law enforcements officials are saying that scam artists are on the prowl and looking to take advantage of people.

Fake testing sites have popped up across the country and some scammers are asking for credit card and social security numbers, and never provide test results.

Assistant Tarrant County District Attorney Lloyd Whelchel says you first need to do some basic research.

Whelchel also suggests talking to your doctor. He or she can help you find a legitimate testing site. He also sayd to keep your personal information like your social security number and credit card numbers to yourself. Legitimate testing sites won't ask for these things.

If you do come across one of these sites asking for personal information, you are asked to contact local authorities.
