(Mansfield, TX) — A Mansfield police officer is a real hero to a homeowner who called for help after finding a giant snake coiled up in the sink this week.

Identified only as Officer Lynch, she calmly walked in and gently picked up the serpent — which appeared to be a harmless and beneficial Texas rat snake — and released it back into the wild well away from the caller's home.

This isn’t the first time a North Texas officer has done a Steve Irwin impression as just two weeks ago, Irving police officer Steve Burres also wrangled a stray snake.

However, in that instance, it was someone's pet that had escaped from its home.

But, when officers found it, they discovered the critter exceeded Irving's six-foot limit on pet snakes, so Ms. Bonnie was relocated to a wildlife rehab sanctuary.
